Default Universal Studio's Moved To Blu-Ray

High Definition DVD format war all but over, it was only a matter of time before Universal studios announced the release of their first raft of Blu-ray movies. The big Hollywood player had exclusively backed Blu-ray's rival HD DVD.

Universal are planning to join the Blu-ray market this summer with the release of three films from the successful "Mummy" action-adventure franchise. "The Mummy", "The Mummy Returns," and the spinoff "The Scorpion King," are scheduled for release on 22nd July.

For the second half of 2008, Universal plans to release around 40 Blu-ray titles.
