Default Backing HD-DVD Denied By Microsoft

Microsoft is telling everyone that it never “fundamentally backed” HD-DVD and that the decision was made to counter early Blu-ray recordable format success as well as promote consumer indecision to that same end.

Supposedly, the bulk of their research and development was focused on digital downloads… something that, despite the fact they have been researching it for so long, we have yet to see take over the market.
