In a couple of months and you’ll be able to rip
Blu-Ray flicks to your PSP, Sony says. According to the electronics giant, an update to both the PlayStation 3 and PSP will let films hop between the console using a feature dubbed Digital Copy.
Apparently, there’s no need to rip the film either. Digital Copy for Blu-Ray will work in exactly the same way as current DVD versions: with a pre-encoded portable version included as a digital file on the Blu-Ray disc.
The PS3, or any other Blu-Ray player for that matter, simply has to copy the file to a PSP, and it’ll be ready to play in seconds.
A Sony spokesman said that Sony Pictures will release Blu-Ray movies with digital copies included “later this year” but cannot give an exact date.
