Hold on to your HD hats! Sony Electronics' US president just confirmed the company's in talks to shove a
Blu-Ray Recordable drive towards Microsoft's console.
Stan Glasgow claims that the console rivals are chatting about incorporating a Blu-Ray drive into the Xbox 360, which would mean Microsoft having to pay Sony for the privilege of using its technology.
There's still a bit of confusion though. Glasgow doesn't know (or wouldn't say) whether any Blu-Ray drive would be built in to the Xbox, or added on through USB.
What he did say is that Sony are also in negotiations with Apple about bringing Blu-Ray to Macs; that he wasn't bothered about the threat to Blu-Ray from downloadable HD movies; and that he believed standalone Blu-ray players will cost as little as $299 (around £150) by the end of the year.
