Default Blu-ray sales get a boost in the uk, increase of 500%

Despite its absolute and ruthless victory in the next-generation DVD war, Blu-ray still divides opinion as to its worth in this digital download age.

And according to two freshly released reports from opposite sides of the Atlantic, it seems to be divided in its success too - or at least it would be but for the existence of a certain world-dominating games console.

The British Video Association has revealed sales of Blu-ray discs are up a massive 506% over the same period last year here in Blighty, equating to around one million units or 1.2% of the total DVD market. The surge spearheads a total market sales increase of 3.3%, apparently led by the success of Blu-ray
