Samsung Canada today announced the availability of the Super WriteMaster SH-S223 DVD burner which it says offers a powerful over-speed performance feature that allows users to burn data at high speeds – even on low speed media. The company claims that with over-speed recording, users can write to 16x media at 22 times speeds and write to 8X media at 12 times speed.
Over speed performance would theoretically allow companies and individuals to save money by purchasing more cost-effective lower speed media without sacrificing burn time.
According to the company, the SH-S223 drive provides 22X
DVD+R recording, 12X DVD-RAM recording, 16X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 12X DVD-R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording. This means 4.7GB can be burnt to a DVD+R disc in approximately 4 minutes and 26 seconds while it takes less than 12 minutes to burn 4.7GB in
DVD-RAM format.
The SH-S223 drive supports the SATA interface and includes free software for creating music, video, photo and data discs. The drive is also part of Samsungs firmware update program that lets users download new firmware upgrades and keep their drives updated.
As with Samsung’s complete WriteMaster optical disc drive lineup, the SH-S223 features Samsung’s Speed Adjustment Technology, (SAT), Tilt Actuator Compensation, (TAC), and Double Optimum Power Control, (OPC). Buffer Under Run Free Technology supports stable writing under high speed while Magic Speed and Automatic Ball Balancing System, (ABS), technologies reduce vibration and noise. The SH-S223 also has an eco-friendly design and is RoHS compliant.
